I’ll be honest, I can’t tell you why I set this one sideways.
This hessonite garnet has a loose teardrop shape, and every time I held it up the way you’d expect, point up, it just didn’t feel right. So I turned it on its side. That was it. Sometimes a stone tells you how it wants to sit and you just go along with it.
It’s rose cut, so instead of a high sparkle you get these soft facets that catch the light and pull you in. The color is a deep cinnamon red that shifts warmer and darker as you move your hand.
I set it in sterling silver with a dot texture all the way around the bezel, which gives the edge a little rhythm without competing with the stone. The band is half round wire, flat on the inside, so it’s comfortable to wear every day.
