Vintage Letterpress Stamp Pendants, Handmade Jewelry, Silver Pendant Necklace

Letterpress printing is a relief printing process, which initially utilized raised letters and designs to imprint on a paper. The Letterpress originated in the 1400s and was the primary form of printing and communication for more than 500 years. Initially entire pages were carved for printing but soon it was realized that individual carved letters made the printing process easier. This way the printers could easily reform the words that were needed to be printed on the page. The first carved letters were made from wood but soon metal letter stamps followed.

I have collected many wood letter stamps over the years from various antique stores and markets. It is always a great find. I have wanted to turn them into pendants for some time so I finally decided to create this fun collection.

The setting for the  "Z"  is made with sterling silver. The stamp is held in the silver box with two wire rivets. The box pendant is 3/4 x 5/8 inches and the depth is 1/2 inches.  The height of the pendant is approximately 1 inch (including bail).

The rolo chain is approximately 18 inches.

Both the chain and the box pendant have been given a patina.

This pendant is ready available and ships within two business days.
