Sonora Gold Turquoise Stud Earrings in Sterling Silver

Small pieces get the same attention as the big ones on my bench. Maybe more. There is less room to hide anything, so every mark has to earn its place.

For these, I set a little teardrop of Sonora Gold turquoise into an oval sheet of sterling silver and framed the whole thing with a fine line texture that fans out from the stone like rays. Three tiny silver granules sit above the bezel, each one finished with my sand texture so they catch the light a little differently than the smooth silver around them.

The stone is Sonora Gold turquoise, mined in the Sonora region of Mexico, known for warm green and gold tones veined with matrix. A patina finish pulls the shadows deep into the line work and lets the green come forward.
