Sierra Bella Turquoise Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver

Sierra Bella turquoise has a green I keep coming back to. Bright and clear, like new leaves in late April, with soft copper matrix drifting through it. This stone is a small teardrop, and I set it floating inside an open silver frame.
Below the stone setting I created a textured shield like design. Twisted silver wire with my staple sand texture background. Everything works together to catch the light in a different way at every angle. A patina settled into all the low places and pulled the shadows deep, which lets the green sit up bright at the top of the piece.
The pendant hangs on a snake chain that moves like water. Chain and pendant both given a patina.Â
Sierra Bella comes from the Sonora mountains in Mexico, a region known for turquoise in vivid greens with warm matrix. This one is a good example of what that mine does best.
