Rosarita is a rare, glass-like byproduct of gold refining from the mid-1900s, most commonly associated with refining practices of the 1960s. During the gold smelting process, minerals and trace elements fused into a beautiful deep red material that was later cut and polished into cabochons.

Modern refining methods are now far more efficient, which means this material is no longer produced — making genuine rosarita increasingly scarce and highly collectible. Its intense ruby-red glow and unique origin give it a fascinating blend of industrial history and natural beauty.
