Kingman Turquoise and Hollow Form Necklace in Sterling Silver
Materials:sterling silver, kingman turquoise
This Kingman came home with me from Tucson. Soft green with warm brown matrix running through it like weather across a map. I set it in a squared bezel with a textured edge, then hung a long hollow form below it, because the stone alone felt like half a sentence.
The hollow form is one I built by hand from sheet silver and was given a spotted texture that catches the light when you move. A patina pulls the shadows into every low place on both the pendant and the paperclip chain.
Kingman is one of the oldest turquoise mines in North America, in the mountains outside Kingman, Arizona. The color runs from bright sky to soft sage, and this stone sits toward the softer end.
