Emerald Valley Turquoise Split Ring Shank in Sterling Silver, Size 6.25

This stone is softer than some of the other Emerald Valleys in the collection. A pale sea green, almost misty, with lighter matrix drifting through it in slow shapes. It reminded me of looking down at the water in the harbor on a cloudy morning.

I set it in a round bezel and gave the ring a split shank underneath, so the band divides into two lines just before it meets the setting. That opening on either side of the stone gives the whole ring some air. It stops feeling like a solid block and starts feeling like something with light passing through it. The sides of the shank are finished with my line texture, so when you look at the ring from the side you get those fine parallel marks running the length of both bands.

Emerald Valley turquoise comes from Nevada, and the mine produces greens across a wide range. This stone sits toward the softer, paler end.
