Stone Spotlight - Quartz and Agates

Hematoid quartz and Montana Agates are the featured stones in my latest mini collection. Both stones have warm orange hues, and are lusciously translucent. They are definitely an eye catcher. These were the very first stones I purchased when I went to the Tucson gem show back in January 2024. I have been coveting them for a while, and wasn't ready to commit them to a collection. I am a little sad that I could not head back to Tucson this year but I snagged a big variety of stones to hold me over for a while at least. 

The Hematoid quartz can be found in different parts of the world, Brazil, USA, Switzerland, South Africa and Germany. These quartz have a presence of hematite. This is an iron oxide mineral, and they can have  colors that range from a pale yellow, orange and a dark red.

It is believed that this particular quartz encourages optimism, energizes the body, and strengthens mind, body and spirit connection. 

The Montana agate is formed from chalcedony. It can come in a variety of colors, stripped, dotted and beautifully translucent like the quartz.  Agates were originally formed approximately 65 million years ago near the Yellowstone National Park area as a result of volcanic eruptions.  They are definitely magical.  The little tree like inclusions are dentrites. Water and minerals are carried into the earth's cracks and crevices slowly over million of years. The water eventually evaporates leaving behind black or brown oxides creating the tree like patterns.

It is believed that they can transform negative energy into positive energy. It also helps with with enhancing mental function by improving perception and analytical abilities. 

As always I like to create large chunky rings and statement necklaces.  I am a big fan of big and bold jewelry for sure.  I added some new texture elements and revisited some older designs to bring this mini collection together.
