    Ring Sizing
How to correctly determine your ring size.

There are many ways to determine your correct ring size. You can find online charts, or use strings, and paper. However, these methods  are not accurate and the best way to correctly determine your ring size is at a local jeweler.

A few things to consider if you are measuring at home:
    • Your dominate hand will have larger sizes. My right hand is dominate and my ring finger is a size 8, however my ring finger on my left hand is a size 7. Make sure you measure the correct finger on the hand you wish to wear the ring on.
    • If you suffer from arthritis and have large knuckles, a square ring shank will work better for you. Normally, with a round ring, you require a larger size to  pass over your knuckle, and then it feels too loose and shifts around. With a square ring shank,  you can rotate the ring slightly so the widest part of the square band passes over the knuckle, and then rotate the ring back. This way it won't feel loose after.
    • For stacking rings, you always want one ring band of the set 1/4 - 1/2 a size bigger than your normal size.
    • Measure your hands at a normal body temperature, your fingers tend to change when hot or cold.  The best time to measure is at the end of the day.

There are a few more things to take into consideration. Both the thickness and the width of the ring shank will influence your size. This is why using a string or paper will not give you an accurate size. Below is an example of a typical ring band that is not wide and is a normal thickness. For this design I wear a size 6.75.

However, when a ring band is thicker and wider like my ammonite ring,  I need a size 7.25. So for those fun chunky rings you want to go up 1/2 size.

I  have used this adjustable ring sizer in the past and they have been quite accurate. You can measure any finger because it is adjustable. You can find them on AMAZON and some craft stores.
