Sterling Silver Fordite Ring, Handmade Ring, LjBjewelry
I think this funky little Fordite ring is one of my favorites. Fordite is not a stone but a man made material that came out the of the old Ford Motor Co. assembly lines. In the old days cars were painted using hand operated spray guns and the over spray adhered and accumulated to the racks. Luckily someone thought it would be cool to take this dried up paint and turn these cool colorful swirls into cabochons for all the jewelry makers. Not sure who the lapidary artist was but I am thankful.
The small fordite is set in a fine silver bezel. The ring is hand fabricated with sterling silver. The double ring band is made with square silver wire and is approximately 8.5 mm wide and then tappers down to 4.5 mm. The stone setting is 3/8 x 3/8 inches.
The ring is a standard US size 7.5
